Towards the end of my senior year at Deerfield Academy, I began an independent project to create a series of oil paintings to commemorate the campus and the surrounding area that I’d come to love so much during my four years at the school.
I worked closely with my painting teacher, Tim Engelland, to develop the project, which culminated in an exhibition of twenty-seven paintings and drawings at Deerfield’s Art Gallery, to coincide with my graduation.
Two of the landscape paintings were chosen by the school to hang permanently in the lobby of its “main school building,” flanking its two front doors.
Six of the paintings were chosen by the school to be made into greeting cards, which continue to be sold by the school store today.
In 2019, I gifted the full set of paintings to Deerfield, where they can be enjoyed by students and teachers for many years into the future.
