Outside the wind was very strong and shook the house. When you opened the door the noise of the wind in the trees made the woods very loud and it was hard to open the door all the way. They were putting on a new bedroom and a new roof, so the house was less of a house than it usually was or will be again by the summer, and the air inside was very cold. We stuffed the stove with logs and tried to warm the room, our bodies under blankets and our cabin under siege, while Strider leaped the frozen moat and licked the freezing queen.
