Two local Sisters men — father and son — took a much deserved nap after chugging two jumbo cans each of Keystone Ice on this, the hottest day of the summer, when temperatures topped 95 degrees here in the mountains. As they slept, the air over Dark Lake grew darker, filling with smoke from nearby forest fires, making me wonder if the already scorched landscape around us was going to light up again. Despite the forest's parched carpeting, it's still fire-free now at midnight.
